I just watched Across 110th Street on The Criterion Channel (www.criterionchannel.com/). The film's pretty gritty (torture scenes, very racist language and it shows the extreme crappy areas of NY in the 70's). As usual I'm pretty impressed with Yaphet Kotto's composure and presence... it certainly is a shame that he passed away this year. The film has some pretty funky music created by the trombonist J.J. Johnson.
