Located in the county of Essex, and around 15 miles east of central London, is the town of Aveley.
Geographically, Aveley is situated just north of the Dartford Crossing, on the border between Essex and Greater London and just within the M25 motorway.
At the heart of the town is the Church of St Michael. This dates all the way back to the 12th century, with additions up to the 14th century. During the 19th century, the church was declared unsafe and was recommended to be pulled down. However, local parisioners raised a sum of £1,000 for its repair, allowing it to avoid this fate.
While there has never been a railway station in Aveley, the nearest station to the town today is Purfleet station, around two miles away. Public transport to Aveley consists of direct buses from South Ockendon, Grays and a London bus service from Hornchurch, among other nearby locations.
Famous people from Aveley include film director Mick Jackson.
