Aperture in photography is the section of the camera that can be adjusted to let in more or less light. A narrow aperture lets in less light and leads to a darker image, while a wide one can flood the sensors with light.

A wide aperture gives you a shallow depth of field whilst a narrow aperture gives you a deep depth of field.
