CHATFIELD State Park.
A great place to hike, fish, camp, or take out boats and SUPs and stuff.
But is it worth prospecting?
This area has been worked over since the gold rush, not as bad as say a dredged creek, but definitely not undisturbed.
It is Site A - 03 in Kevin Singels book, Finding Gold in Colorado, the cobble bar he lists as productive is at the end of the video.
I have a theory that all the old timers also believed in. Follow the gold up into the mountains, and it will be more plentiful as you get closer to the source.
