Flagstaff’s 2022 “Big Impact Event,” was the first of its kind, representing a collaborative effort between two historic astronomical sites: Meteor Crater, the best-preserved meteorite impact crater in the world, and Lowell Observatory, a 128-year-old astronomical observatory that studies near-earth asteroids and has discovered roughly 30,000 asteroids in our solar system.
