LIVE: Senate Armed Services Committee Hearing on Current Readiness of Joint Force
In their testimony before a Senate Armed Services subcommittee on joint force readiness, representatives of the U.S. military expressed concern with a full-year stopgap funding bill passed by the House. Vice Chief of Naval Operations Admiral James Kilby warned that a lack of funding in the bill could ultimately reduce recruitment. Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Roger Wicker (R-MS) also expressed concern over what he called "inadequate funding." Other topics discussed included military ship maintenance and how a hiring freeze implemented by the Trump administration could impact each branch of the military
