At 0:21 flame can be seen licking in the right hand side of the engine bay. Although a piece of the vacuum engine bell on the left is missing, whether this is a symptom of the the initial cause or consequence of the initial cause cannot be determined from this video. It could be that the missing piece blew up into the engine bay causing more damage and starting the fire in the engine bay or something in the engine bay exploded initially knocking the piece out of the engine bell. Only if SpaceX releases the full video footage from engine start to the bell damage can we determine the timeline between the engine bay fire to the bell damage. The engine bay fire may have caused the vacuum bell to explode or the damage to the bell caused the bell to explode. Either way, the vacuum engine explosion most probably caused the damage to the other 3 raptors. Again the full footage and sensor telemetry needs to be seen to determine exactly what happened. Anything else is mere speculation at this time.
Lets Go Flight 9 And Bring On V3 Lets Go Go Go Spacep X
Best report I've seen about this. Thank you!
At 3:40 the picture is of the front fins and you see a venting of gas sideways which causes the ship to start tumbling. Now if it was if it was at the rocket engine mounts you wouldn't see it up front. Please take a look and tell me how that happened.
Knowin how good was Musk with his predictions so far, no flight till July.
The more haste, the better the chance of fireworks :)
They better change the propellant delivery system before the launch or they will lose this one too.
If itβs a fire itβs either a nozzle side wall burn through or a leak of both fuel and oxidizer. If itβs only fuel there will not be a fire at that altitude because there is not enough oxygen in the atmosphere at that altitude.
Awesome β€
i can't believe they made Athena Top heavy .Regardless of Gravity Making a lander like the so tall is a mistake!
Simple solution for intuitive machines is to change the name of the company to Inclined Machines, no need to change the logo. But seriously good luck with the next one.
Go space X The world is watchin.we thank you are the risen son an may you be shielded respected an all childen be pretected ...
I wonder if we're going to see a refurbished Booster 15 fly again? We've now had a few catches, so there must be a good idea as to how re-useable the vehicle is.
Go go go Flight 9 ! Lets have another great fireworks !
Should use only 3 ctr engines for hot staging lite rvacs AFTER seperation! Also leave a solid ring at bottom of rvac bells so not damaged durinh hot stage.
Why not have a second set of catching chopsticks on the opposite side or 90Β° different side for catching the returning starship/ booster. This way the the OLM will be protected from the returning vehicles down thrust of the rockets. Do they need to take off and land in the same place? Can't see the necessity for the co-location. Yes a co- located lifting mechanism but it has or could have 360Β° options around the lifting tower.
Whenever we get up there, are we going to stand up all the equipment that fell over?
I will pray every day , night and endlessly for the next launch of Starships will be a great success. β€ππ
Its not a failure.
