It’s 2024 I’m 65 years old. It still brings me to tears every time I play it. Disabled Veteran here. Old school and some of new school as well.❤

@Ihsankeizer

It's 2024 and I'm still happy to listen to this beautiful words The song cuts across all faiths and religions who believe in a singularity that mercifully watches over us....Very soothing, touching and assuring...

@crashers17

@birdnest5814

This song came out when my daughter was fighting to survive, in the NICU. This was her song. God WAS watching her. She made it and will turn 30 next week.

@MorekwaMogashane

I just lost my brother due to an accident. The song soothed me from my loss.Indeed God is watching us!

@southernbiscuits1275

I wonder if Bette Midler realizes what a gift she gave the world with this song.

@TheReggaeboi

Back when I was a kid in the 90s, I hated this song because it keeps on playing on the radio, and the phrase “FROM A DISTANCE” can’t got out of my mind back then. Now, i’m 37, i want to cry everytime i hear this song. I wan’t to go back to the 90s and stay there. It’s more laid back back in the 90s and less stressful.

@keithborrill7160

One of the all time greats, often funny,but absolutely brilliant. I am 76 years old and unashamedly crying as I type in my personal tribute. RIP big man

@lizloukiss

I’m 43 and this song was part of my childhood. I still cannot comprehend the violence of war and poverty, especially now that I’m a mother and I see how loving and peaceful children can be. Whether you believe in a god or not, we can all do better to love and accept each other with kindness. From a distance and close up. ❤️‍🩹

@hollypastorfield9297

I love this song! I was a premie born 3 months early and I was in the NICU for a month. I shouldn’t of survived. I am 35 today. I know I am here because of gods grace. God was watching over me!

@fuzzykyrra

I'm not religious but the sentiments of this song are beautiful and it moves me still after all these years.

@kristinad8852

My son was playing this on the piano yesterday, and I had a thought - God does not want to watch us from a distance. In a way, this song reveals the sad reality of most of us - that most of us keep Him at a distance - with doubts and limited understanding. He wants to be nearer. In fact, so near that He would finally dwell in us. But... it's up to each one of us. If the veil is lifted from our eyes - we can see... see ourselves how He sees us. And when we finally realize how far we are from Him, the next step is to condemn our fallen self, to suffer in agony, and finally break our stubborn, proud heart. He will gladly give us a new one.
This song is a sad shadow of a seemingly powerless God. But if we open our heart wide enough for Him, this sad reality could change, and we could sing a new song... a Heavenly song!

@imyourbiggestfan.9224

This was played at my Dad's funeral. God is watching us.

@sholiswuhan7938

@TimEasterling-ug6go

I heard this song during the Iraq war in 1990-1991. I enjoyed Bette Midler singing it.
