What people don't seem to realize is that you can't just hook up god speed internet to your computer and get those speeds. The networking hardware is limited. Most devices have a 1gigabit NIC. Some higher end stuff like gaming motherboards will have 2.5gbe and even 10gbe which you'd typically be using for your LAN. They do make network hardware that can do 40 or 100gbps, but it's stupid expensive and you'd have to ask yourself why a single computer needs that kind of bandwidth. If you have a 1gigabit NIC and 5gigabit internet coming into your house you will not see above 1000mbps on a speedtest. The hardware has to be upgraded. Typically an org is buying this much speed so that they can give 1000's of devices 500mbps - 1gbps speed. If this speedtest is real it's a server somewhere (still not sure why it needs this much speed hooked up to it) that some tech logged into.
