Good stuff, thanks!

Reminds me of those big old loopy fiberglass rods. They work good on lakes in a float tube.

I got a Martin fishing Pole for 34 Bucks to start. And have caught trout on it so far it works.💯

I bought the same fly rod combo off Amazon. The reason the rod is so heavy is because it’s a fiberglass 6/7 WT rod (which over time can wear your arm out compared to a graphite rod). I also didn’t like the line it shipped with, and took mine to Cabelas to get it spooled up with better line and backing. The zippered case also didn’t even have a pvc pipe inside to better protect the three piece rod. Same cheap plastic reel seat, but the only upgrade yours has is the cork handle compared to mine which was foam. Glad to see you could land some fish with this rod because the fiberglass construction gives so much more play, I had problems setting the hook and kept loosing fish (which completely went away once I switched back to a graphite fly rod). JUST SAY NO TO FIBERGLASS FLY RODS!!!! However, if you’re looking to regift this, it’s perfect for your mother in law. 😇
